SMART Release Updates November 2022

The November release includes additional features for Manual Filing (or Data Entry) transactions: Inception Date Change Endorsement.

The following improvements include:

  • Ability to optionally upload PDF copy of insurance document with online filing (i.e. review or document an indeterminate or questionable transaction), which automatically notifies TechSupport via email.
  • “Dummy Renewal” process no longer necessary for Continuous Until Cancelled policies (one time migration)
  • Auto resolution of manually assigned error/tags with insurer or company change endorsements, reversals, and policy replacing binders
  • Improved error/tag assignment for AOR changes within API batch submissions to ensure consistency
  • Improved layout for Policies search page(s) for better clarity in “Errors” section
  • Reverse cancellation effective the same date as existing cancel/reinstate pair
  • Adding cancelation effective before or same date as existing cancel/reinstate pair
  • Guidance when reporting certificates to master policy(ies)
  • Updates to list of Related Coverage or Class code(s) when either code is inactive
  • Improved handling of API submissions made during Month-End scheduled tasks

Available Manual Filing (or Data Entry) transactions: New or Renewal Policies or Binders; New or Renewal Policy Replacing Binders; Premium Endorsements, Audits, and Installments; Cancellations; Reinstatements;  Name Change, Policy Number Change, Insurer / Company Change, Expiration Date Change, or Other Non-Premium Endorsements; Reversals; and Agent/Broker of Record changes.

The following features or transactions remain outstanding:  API filer’s ability to correct errors (tags) through SMART’s user interface, and monthly/annual late filing reports. Features are expected within next 1-2 release cycles. An official 90-day notice of end-of-life date for Electronic Filing System (EFS) was to be announced once all features are released. Given current timelines and existing constraints, SLTX is tentatively scheduling end-of-life of the Electronic Filing System (EFS) as May 1, 2023.
