TDI to Require Online Applications for Insurance Licenses

Individuals who apply for an insurance license in Texas must now do so through an online application, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) announced on Thursday, September 6, 2018.

Paper applications will no longer be accepted if an online application is available. Individuals will have one year after passing the required exam to apply for an insurance license, and online applications are available through Sircon.

However, not all applications will be web-based. The following license applications must still be submitted using TDI’s paper application:

• Temporary license
• Insurance service representative
• Life and health insurance counselor
• Risk manager
• Public insurance adjuster
