Insurer Number Changes (Retracted 04-18-2013), Surplus Lines Insurers List & Supplemental List
This bulletin has been rescinded by the Insurer Number Changes bulletin.
INSURER NUMBER CHANGES
The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) has revised its system for assigning unique identifying numbers to insurers. Previously, surplus lines insurer numbers had a prefix of either “80” (US insurers) or “90” (non-US insurers). Under the new numbering system, TDI will no longer be publishing numbers with a prefix code.
The accompanying Surplus Lines Insurers List shows all eligible insurers, with their “new” numbers. This change will affect those of you who utilize the programmatic filing method to submit transactions to the Stamping Office. To allow agents/agencies adequate time to make the necessary changes in their systems, the Stamping Office will not be changing the insurer (company) numbers in our system for some time. The suggested effective date for this change is 05/13/13. Making the changes prior to that date will result in errors on your programmatic submissions. We will be contacting vendors to offer our assistance where possible. This change will not impact agents/agencies who file using web entry. You will continue to select the appropriate Company name from the Lookup window.
Do not make the final number changes in your “live” system/environment until we provide the specific transition date.
